Dear Members /Friends, As you might be aware, this year 2008 marks our Society's Centenary Celebration from its foundation. Our Central Committee, together with other Sub-Committees, are preparing various activities to commemorate this Special Event, with the highlight of these celebrations being the Inauguration of Our Society's New Premises "Palazz Santa Marija" Incidentally, one of our members, some years ago, had compiled a VHS about the story of our Society, which covered the period from its Foundation in 1908 up to the "Golden Jubilee" of our Band in 1995. This VHS was very successful, in fact, when our Society acquired the property on which to build it's new premises, this member was asked by the Central Committee, to record the whole project, from Excavation up to the Inauguration of the Society's New Residence on DVD. During this year's Annual General Meeting, which was held on the 27th January. Our Central Committee has launched several initiatives in relation to the “Centenary Celebrations". Although most of these initiatives are in their initial stages, there is one which has materialised over the recent years, which might be of interest to you. The Central Committee, has issued a “Set" of DVD's complete with printed DVD in a box with a coloured cover. This set comprises Eight (8) DVD 's of approximately three hours each. The first two are in the form of Documentary (in Maltese), one was released in 1999 (on VHS) and covers the years 1908-1995, whilst the second one covers 1995-1998, and was released in the year 2003. The other five DVD's show the Excavation, the Construction, and the workers involved at work on the new club, up to 2007. Works done during 2008 up to the Inauguration, will be on the Eighth and last DVD, which will be sent to you later on as soon as it is finalised, which will have its place in the cover and is included in the price, after this year's Celebrations of our Beloved “Our Lady’s Assumption" on August 15th.
